BASIC SALAD

Salad
Lettuces (something leafy)
Cucumbers (something crunchy)
Grapes (something fruity or sweet)

Dressing
Olive oil
Vinegar
Salt
Sugar

* You can use Sale Profumato in a place of regular salt


*No peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, soy, wheat

1. Cut the stem of the lettuce. It will stay fresh this way.
2. Lettuces don't like metal, so many cookbooks instruct you to use hands.
3. Place the cut cucumbers into salty cold water. Salt will pull off the liquid out of vegetables and make them crisp.
4. Lettuce will taste much fresher if you soak them into cold water. Salad spinners are wonderful tool to dry the lettuce after this process.
If you are having onion slices, add them to the cold water with lettuce.
5. Move the lettuce, onions, and cucumbers to a bowl.
6. Olive oil first, just enough to wet the
lettuce. Toss and mix.
7. Vinegar is the next. 1 tsp will do. Toss and mix.
8. Sugar comes next. 1 tsp.
9. Finish with salt and pepper. 1/4 tsp salt, 2 turns of the pepper shaker. Mix.
10. Add grapes. Fruit can join the salad after the dressing. Toss and mix.

I used to mix the dressing in a small bowl, but when my mother-in-law fixed her salad this way, I fell in love with it.
